The Korg DS1-H Damper Pedal is the first sustain pedal to support half-damper operation — the ability to apply partial sustain by depressing the pedal only partway, a technique used by intermediate and advanced pianists that single-switch sustain pedals cannot detect. When connected to a compatible Korg digital piano, the DS1-H transmits continuous controller data for the full range of pedal position, reproducing the acoustic piano's characteristic partial sustain effect. For pianists who have reached the level where full or nothing sustain is a limitation on their playing.
