The Bösendorfer 185 VC is Bösendorfer's entry grand piano at 185cm — the smallest instrument from the Viennese piano maker founded in 1828 that Beethoven's own piano teacher vouched for personally, and the instrument that represents the Bösendorfer sound in the most accessible format. The Bösendorfer tone — darker, warmer, and more complex in its upper partials than Steinway — is the tone heard on many of the great recordings of Schubert, Brahms, and the German Romantic repertoire. Every Bösendorfer is built entirely by hand in Vienna using techniques unchanged since the 19th century, with each instrument taking approximately 3,000 hours of craftsperson time.
